Well I finally ticked this one off my bucket list on the way home from The Lakes in August 2020, when we were allowed to travel, and it didn't disappoint. Conditions were ideal. Slightly overcast with a lovely refreshing breeze with streams for Ted to drink from. It's a steady pull up to the top but my are the views worth it!
So what is High Cup Nick? Well according to Wikipedia 'High Cup Gill (or High Cup Nick or just High Cup) is a short U-shaped valley deeply incised into the Pennine scarp to the northeast of Appleby-in-Westmorland in Cumbria and within the North Pennines AONB in northern England. It is considered to be glacial in origin, ice having over-ridden the area during successive ice ages. To its southeast is Murton Fell whilst Dufton Fell is to the north.'
Well worth the climb and I even got to walk a bit of The Pennine Way. Here are some photos:
The start of the walk in the quaint village of Dufton.
The walk involves walking at least some of the iconic Pennine Way.
Dufton Pike in the distance.
Looking back towards the Eden Valley.
Strands Beck.
The magnificent view from High Cup Nick. Jaw dropping!
We did it Dad!
